ESCANABA - An Escanaba man will be tried by a jury next spring for allegedly sexually assaulting a female in Wells Township last June. The trial date was set in Delta County Circuit Court during a hearing Wednesday.

Dustin Anthony Menard, 26, of 1315 Sheridan Road, rear apt. 1, was arrested on Sept. 9 in connection with the assault of a 25-year-old victim on June 9, according to the Delta County Sheriff's Department. His trial date is scheduled for March 18-20, 2014.

Menard is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct by force or coercion, each a 15-year felony, and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct by force or coercion, a two-year high-court misdemeanor. A third-offense habitual offender notice is also attached to the charges.

Menard remains lodged in the county jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.

He has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Following his arrest in September, charges against Menard were authorized in district court where court records were suppressed to the public and the media.
