Leon Herman Leutz

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Leon Herman Leutz passed away on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the age of 89. Born on Oct. 23, 1924, in Taylor, N.D., he was the son of Herman and Ivah (Unumb) Leutz. Leon returned to the Brighton area in 2010 from Escanaba, Mich. He was a graduate of the Schools of Engineering at University of Michigan and Notre Dame and received his master's degree from MIT in nuclear engineering. He closed out his Naval career as a teacher at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He retired at the rank of commander in the U.S. Navy serving his country from 1942 to 1964. Leon retired in 1990 from Townsend and Bottum as a Project Engineer.
