ESCANABA - Donald M. Rowell, 87, former Escanaba resident, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 in Menomonee Falls, Wis. He was born May 19, 1926, in Iron River, and was the son of Archie and Mary (Kliemola) Rowell. Donald graduated from Iron River High School and then attended college before he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving until he was honorably discharged. He married the former Barbara Carlson on Sept. 3, 1953, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2002. Donald was employed with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad until his retirement. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, the Escanaba American Legion Post 82, and he did volunteer work at the YMCA in Escanaba.
Donald M. Rowell is survived by two grandchildren, Brittney Langley and Kelsi Langley, both of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda M. Langley, on May 17, 2002.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veterans services will be conducted at noon Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating the life of Donald M. Rowell will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Erik Heskin officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the Anderson Funeral Home fellowship area. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
