ESCANABA - Daily Press Readers will have a leg up on other shoppers this holiday shopping season thanks to the deals found in Wednesday's morning edition of the Daily Press.
"The Thanksgiving edition is our largest newspaper of the year, with approximately two dozen sales fliers included," said Daily Press Publisher Dan McDonald.
While the Daily Press does not print a Thanksgiving Day paper, Wednesday's edition contains more than 20 inserts featuring local deals for Black Friday and Thanksgiving Day sales.
"Many holiday shoppers plan their entire shopping experience around what they find in the Daily Press. We are pleased to be a part of the family tradition," said McDonald.
It's a tradition that has been embraced by area businesses such as Shopko, Kmart, Sears, Menards, Gliks, and Ashley Furniture Home Store among others.
"The inserts are important to the readers. It's our advertisers reaching out and saying these are the best sales we have for the season," said Ann Troutman, Daily Press advertising manager.
Local businesses will also be advertising their holiday specials inside the paper itself, giving readers even more information about local deals.
While there is no paper on Thanksgiving Day, retail location racks will be refilled and the Wednesday Thanksgiving edition will be available in open retail locations both Wednesday and Thursday.
"Even though the Thanksgiving edition is bigger than ever, we have not raised the price from last year of $1," said McDonald.
The paper will be delivered to regular subscribers at no additional cost by 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Should a subscriber not receive their paper, they can contact the Daily Press circulation department between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day at 786-2021.
In addition to the Thanksgiving and Black Friday inserts going in later this week, readers can enjoy a special holiday TV listing book inside today's paper. The guide includes a special listing of holiday movies being aired between Nov. 28 and Dec. 31.
