Michael B ‘Mike’ Kadletz

RAPID RIVER - Michael B. "Mike" Kadletz, 67, of 10443 S.75 Road, Rapid River, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba following a brief illness.

Mike was born June 24, 1946, in Park Falls, Wis., the son of Byron and Evelyn (Derosier) Kadletz. He was raised in Twin Lakes, Mich., and graduated in 1964 from Jeffers High School in Painesdale. Following graduation, Mike served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968, where he was stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge in 1968 he moved with his wife, the former Dell Jean Lagerquist, to Rapid River.

Mike's working career began with Harnischfeger Corp., for one year prior to employment with Mead Paper Company from 1969 until his retirement in 2009.

Mike was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River and the Rapid River American Legion Post No. 301. Mikes hobbies included hunting, fishing and woodworking in his shop.

Mike's music career began at the age of 15 and he was a member of many bands including the "Rhythm Rockers," "Coppertones," "Full Circle" and the "Delta Drifters."

In addition to his wife Dell Jean, survivors include son, Brian Kadletz of Escanaba; sisters, Patricia (Robert) Twinem of Milwaukee, Rochelle (William) Vickio of Baraboo, Wis., Joanne Walker of Oshkosh, and Cheryl (Robert) Thompson of Cornell; sisters-in-law, Judy (Ron) LaCasse of Escanaba and Mary (John) Parrett of Rapid River; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the love of his life, his dog "Abby."

In addition to his parents, his four brothers, Glen, Jack, Jerry, and Terry Kadletz and two sisters, Roberta Luttinen and Lillian Mueller, preceded Mike in death.

Mike's family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 from 2-6 p.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River. Funeral services celebrating the life of Michael B. Kadletz will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Gauger, Rev. William Rafuse and Rev. Tom Wickstrom officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Calvary Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Burial with military rites conducted by the Rapid River American Legion Post No. 301 will follow on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Rapid River Cemetery in Rapid River.
