Marilyn J. McGinnis

ESCANABA - Marilyn J. McGinnis, 84, Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1929 in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Girard) Perryman. On Aug. 30, 1948 she married the late Vern J. McGinnis.

Marilyn graduated from Escanaba High School in 1947. She lived in the area until moving to Marquette in 1966 where she was employed by several insurance companies. Marilyn later moved back to Escanaba and continued to work in the insurance field until her retirement. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba.

She is survived by: her three children, Cheryl (Robert) Stenfors, John McGinnis and Mary Jo (Ralph Duffek) McGinnis; one sister, Dolly (Ronald) Dufour; three brothers, Francis (Charlotte) Perryman, Howard (June) Perryman and Thomas Perryman; two sisters-in-law, Helga Perryman and Lona (Thomas) Despins; a brother-in-law, John McMahon; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Michael; two sisters, Billie Ann Makosky and Carol McMahon; and three brothers, Charles Jr., James and Bobby Perryman.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Scott M. White officiating. A luncheon will follow services in the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall. Inurnment will take place in the Ford River West Cemetery.
