GREEN RIVER, Wyo. - Former Escanaba resident, John Prokos, was officially sworn in as Third Judicial District Circuit Judge for the State of Wyoming during a robing ceremony held on Aug. 12.
His parents, John and Darlene Prokos of Escanaba, were in attendance at the ceremony, while his twin sister, Ginger Marten, spoke during the ceremony and recounted humorous stories about their childhood.
Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kite, along with other judiciary members, were on hand for the ceremony. Prokos' wife, Melinda Baas, conducted the robing ceremony, and Kite administered the oath of office.

A 1988 graduate of Escanaba High School, Prokos graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in history and obtained a law degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Prokos was the deputy county attorney in Sweetwater County in Wyoming and had previously worked as a public defender and in private practice.
