Civil Air Patrol promotes local officers

ESCANABA - The Bay De Noc Senior Flight Michigan Wing Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, announces the recent promotions of two senior officers.

During a promotion ceremony held on Aug. 17 in Escanaba, Lt. John Izzi was promoted to the rank of captain, receiving his promotion from Lt. Col. Steve Adkins, CAP Commander Upper Michigan Group 700 Civil Air Patrol Michigan Wing U.S Air Force Auxiliary.

In addition to attaining the rank of captain, Izzi is also currently serving as interim commander of Dickinson Composite Flight, GLR-MI-201 based in Iron Mountain. He continues to serve as Deputy Commander of Cadets for Bay De Noc Senior Flight, GLR-MI-096, based in Escanaba.

During a separate promotion ceremony conducted in July, Lt. Sharon Herro was promoted to captain, in addition to being appointed executive officer of Bay De Noc Senior Flight, GLR-MI-096, serving under unit commander, Capt. Steve Fritz.

The Bay De Noc Senior Flight Auxiliary meets the first and third Saturday of each month. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Civil Air Patrol is welcome to attend.
