ESCANABA - AAUW members will host a Garden Party on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. The party will be held at the home of Kathleen Bennett and guests will enjoy summer snacks and beverages. Everyone is encouraged to wear a hat (extra hats will be available).
Up-coming events and the fall membership calendar will be presented and guests will have the opportunity to meet members and learn about AAUW's activities and projects.

AAUW has been empowering women since 1881. It is open to men and women holding an Associate's Degree or higher. AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. It values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin or disability.
Membership dues for the local, state and national organizations total $72, with $46 of the national dues being tax deductible. AAUW is a 501 (3) charitable organization.
The AAUW Escanaba Area Branch celebrated its 40th birthday this year. Its charter president in 1973 was M. Jean Jokipii, who also served as Escanaba's first female mayor. For membership information, call 789-0816.
