Trout and whitefish were plentiful when this picture was taken in the early 1900s, however fishing was hard work and any financial success was well-earned. Among the pioneer commercial fishermen of the area were Peter Jensen and Hans P. Hansen, who established the Hansen & Jensen fish business in 1893. Their fish market was located at 116 N. 3rd Street. Capt. In the photograph, Hansen stands at the rail of the P.W. Arthur, named for his three sons, Peter, William and Arthur.
