Megan Kivi of Bark River Harris shot well enough on Saturday at the Michigan State Games to take home the silver medal. The young archer shot a 266 in the 3D Tournament, placing her on the podium in her first 3D competition.
Kivi started archery this season at Bark River-Harris’ 4-H Archery Club, having never shot a bow. Earlier this season, Kivi shot at the 2013 National Archery in Schools Tournament, finishing fifth in Michigan in the Elementary Girls Division. That qualified her to continuue on to Nationals in Louisville, Ken. The 4-H Archery Club at BR-H will team with Great Lakes Sports and Recreation Club to expand archery to an outdoor range of 90 meters. BR-H archers have consistently shot qualifying scores and competed at the state, national and world level every year since the club’s inception in 2007.
