ESCANABA - As sure as the sun shined brightly above the Escanaba High School track, the Esky girls and Gladstone boys were winners of a triangular meet Tuesday.

Esky's girls scored 114 points, followed by Gladstone 49 and Iron Mountain 11 on this seasonably mild day.

The Gladstone boys collected 97, with Esky at 50 and the Mountaineers 28.

Esky sophomore Aimee Giese did high jump for the first time and won with a leap of four feet, eight inches. She also took the 1600-meter run in five minutes, 51.12 seconds, the 3200 (12:45.89) and helped the winning 3200 relay.

Junior Lynsey Collins added firsts in the 100 (12.96), 200 (27.3) and 300 hurdles (49.15) and helped the winning 1600 relay.

"Our depth came through again," said Esky coach Dan DeLong. "Lynsey ran personal-bests in all of her races and once Aimee knew she won high jump, she decided not to go any higher. Our field events specialists did well."
