Mary Ann Kozar

ESCANABA - Mary Ann Kozar, 79, 1315 S. 30th St., Escanaba, passed away on early Saturday morning, May 4, 2013, at her home following a year long illness.

She was born on April 9, 1934, in Escanaba, daughter of Alfred and Irene (Dupont) Lund. Mary Ann attended Escanaba schools and resided in Escanaba most of her life.

On Jan. 8, 1955, the former Mary Ann Lund married Rudy Kozar at St. Bridgets Church in Indiana.

While she lived in Indiana, Mary Ann bowled with her husband for the Knights of Columbus.

She enjoyed going to the casino to play bingo, doing ceramics, spending time with her family, and dancing. She loved her dogs.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Anne's Church and was a catechist.

Among survivors include her husband, Rudy of Escanaba; children, Debra A. Kozar, Michael R. Kozar and Jon J. Kozar, all of Escanaba, Mary E. Kozar of Hopewell, Va., Melissa K. Westerberg of Wells; six grandchildren; brothers, Burton (Angie) Lund of San Antonio, Texas, and Harold (Carla) Lund of Gladstone; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by grandchildren, Jennifer and Kyle; sisters, Patti, Lil, Arlene and Betty.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Anne's Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.

A meal will follow in the church hall.

Entombment will be in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Kozar family.
