ROSEBUSH, Mich. - Elmer C. Walker (Oct. 26, 1925 - April 18, 2013), age 87, of Rosebush, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital.

A memorial service for Elmer will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant on Monday, April 22, at 1 p.m. with Fr. Thomas Held officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rosebush Manor or to the Sacred Heart Parish Televised Mass and Sound Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Elmer was born on Oct. 26, 1925, in Gladstone, Mich., the son of Elmer and Blanche (Bellin) Walker. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. during World War II in the Pacific as a B-29 tail gunner. He married June Dupey on Dec. 28, 1946, at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba, Mich., and was a devoted, loving husband and companion for 66 years. Elmer was employed in the construction trade for over 30 years and was a skilled cement mason and bricklayer.

Elmer delighted in his role as husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and took pride in the achievements of his family members. His caring personality made him a treasured member of every community with which he was associated. Elmer had a fun-loving character and keen sense of humor that was greatly appreciated by all those who knew him. He enjoyed playing and following sports and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers.

Elmer is survived by his wife, June; sons, John (Jenny) Walker of Simi Valley, Calif., and David (Deborah) Walker of Singapore; grandchildren, Sarah (James) Bellanca and Seth (Erica) Walker; great-grandson, Aiden Bellanca; and sister, Beverly Dupey.

Elmer was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancie Gay; parents; and sister, Betty Wagner.
