MISSOULA, Mont. - Maurice Hugo Lund of Missoula, Mont., 74, died at home on March 6, 2013. Moe was born March 17, 1938, in Detroit, Mich., to Hugo and Eleanor (Jaaske) Lund of Kipling.
He grew up in St. Clair Shores, Mich., graduated from South Lake High School in 1956, and attended the University of Michigan. He married Virginia Ursula Sapienza on May 27, 1966, and they moved to Port Huron, Mich., soon after.
He worked as a land surveyor, but after a work-related accident he retired early and devoted many years to raising his two sons. His family was the most important and most loved part of his life. Moe moved to Gladstone in 1982 and also took care of his father, Hugo, until his death in 2000. Moe and Virginia moved to Missoula, Mont., in 2005 where he lived until his death.

Moe was a very loving, patient and generous man who had a great sense of humor. He loved repair projects and spent many hours with his sons tinkering in the garage. He loved fishing and boating and playing cards. He was a serious poker player who cherished playing with family and friends and in semi-professional tournaments.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his two sons, John Lund (Karin Fodness) of Missoula, Tom Lund (Cindy Rigali Lund) of Glenview, Ill.; his brother, John Lund (Barb Kennedy Lund) of Glen Lake, Mich.; and five grandchildren, Sam and Eric Lund of Missoula and Sophia, Gabriella, and Olivia Lund of Glenview, Ill., as well as multiple nieces and nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Missoula. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Emmaus Campus Ministry of Missoula.
