ESCANABA Individuals and families are invited to learn more about Alzheimer's disease during a free program being offered by OSF Home Care Services and Christian Park Health Care Center

OSF Home Care and Christian Park are teaming up to offer free, monthly Family Education Night programs, the first of which will focus on Alzheimer's, a disease that affects more than 5 million Americans. The program will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Park Healthcare Center.

Speaker will be Phil Puotinen, program coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, Upper Peninsula Region. Puotinen has worked in a number of social service arenas, including foster care and child welfare, homeless and affordable housing and mental health. He and his wife were also caregivers for his mother, who had Alzheimer's disease.

Co-facilitators for the discussion will include Cindy Liukkonen, Christian Park activity director, along with Erik Barnhart and Pam Cloutier, medical social workers for OSF Home Care Services. A question-and-answer period will be offered following the presentation.

For more information or to register, call OSF Home Care at 786-3915.
