EBEN - The Superior Central boys gained temporary bragging rights in Alger County Friday night as they posted a 45-37 basketball triumph over the Munising Mustangs.
Trevor Maki led the Cougars with 17 points and Matt Verbrigghe had 11 in the Central U.P. Conference match-up.
The Cougars (9-4 overall, 5-1 CUP) led 6-2 after the first quarter and 20-12 at halftime.
"It was a very physical game," said Cougars' coach Herb Jenkins. "It's a great environment when Superior Central plays Munising. Coach (Dan) Waterman and I know what the other wants to do, so it becomes a game of adjustments."
The Cougars host Rapid River Tuesday. Munising (8-3 overall, 4-1 league) hosts Big Bay de Noc Tuesday.
