NAHMA TOWNSHIP - Investigation continues into a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old Rapid River man this weekend, according to Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post.

Ryan Robert-Raymond Harper, 23, was driving west on U.S. 2 near JJ.5 Road. His vehicle crossed the centerline and was struck broadside by an eastbound vehicle at 1 a.m. Sunday, stated police in a news release this morning.

Harper was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner's office. The eastbound driver, Ricky Dale Moulds, 57, of Escanaba, was transported by Rampart Emergency Medical Services to Marquette General Hospital. His condition was not available this morning.

Assisting at the accident scene were Garden, Nahma, and Masonville township fire departments, Delta County Sheriff's Department, and troopers from the St. Ignace Detachment. In addition to Rampart EMS, also assisting at the scene was Tri-Star EMS.

Traffic along U.S. 2 was shut down for several hours until the scene could be cleared. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to police who continue to investigate the accident.
