This week's bouquets go to:
From the Escanaba Elks Flag Day Committee:
"We would like to thank all who attended the recent Flag Day program held recently at Ludington Park's Karas Memorial Bandshell. The great crowd accented the colorful program presented by the Elks Lodge officers and member Jimmy Bruce.
'Special thanks for all who participated: The Escanaba City Band and Remnants Barbershop Chorus for the wonderful patriotic music; Gladstone Boy Scout troop 466 for their help with the "History of the Flag;" Members of the Delta County Veterans organizations for their display of our nation's Colors; Gardens of Rest Memorial Park and Mausoleum for the use of their very colorful "Avenue of Flags" and the City of Escanaba Recreation Department for the use of this beautiful setting for our program."
From the Gladstone High School 2012 Varsity Softball Team, coaches, and parents:
"We would like to thank to the community, fan club, GHS students, staff and administrators. The post-season game attendance, cheering, spirit, and support were awesome. Although usually the team farthest from home, Gladstone had the most fans. Thanks to all who travelled the endless miles. For the fans that listened from home, thanks also for your support.
Thank you also to those who supported us throughout the season: parents who baked, worked in the concession stand, sold 50/50 tickets, grilled, worked on the field, announced, provided snacks, drove to games, etc. We appreciate all you do. Finally, the softball team wants to thank the coaches for the endless hours, encouragement, and fun. Thanks for the memorable season."
From the United Way of Delta County:
The United Way of Delta County would like to send a bouquet to all who made our Children's Book Swap a success. It was a great opportunity to help people clear their bookshelves of unwanted books and share them with kids who will enjoy them. Special thanks to the Reading Buddies from the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program and to Donna Russotto and the Delta-Schoolcraft Great Start Collaborative. It was great to see so many kids excited about reading.
From Karen Alvord, Crime Victim Rights Committee:
"Bouquets to Elmer's County Market, Rod Stende, Dan Mathieson and the Deli crew for all your help for the fundraiser for the victims of crime at our annual brat sale. You are so helpful, friendly and a big asset to our community. Thank you, we look forward to working with you again next year."
Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.
We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.
Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they've done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.
They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on "Bouquets" and follow the simple instructions.
