GLADSTONE - First Lutheran Church in Gladstone was the setting for the Sept. 10 wedding of John Wery Jr. and Melissa Rappette. Rev. Jonathan Schmidt presided over the 1 p.m. ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a reception in honor of the newlyweds was held at the Bark River Senior Center.
Kayla Verbeek, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were: Abby Bourdreau, best friend of the bride; Ashley Kommes and Katy Wery, both sisters of the groom; and Christa Erickson, cousin of the bride.

The best friend of the groom, Lyle Grivicich, stood as best man. Groomsmen were: Dan Verbeek, brother-in-law of the bride; Kris Kommes, brother-in-law of the groom; and Todd Gustafson and Jesse Peacock, both friends of the groom.
Seating the guests were Chris Creten, uncle of the bride; and Johnny Rappette, brother of the bride. The flower girls were Emma Verbeek, niece of the bride, and Ella Kommes, niece of the groom. Braxton Lundquist, a friend of the family, was the ring bearer.
The daughter of Ann Severinsen of Escanaba, and John Rappette of Cornell, Melissa graduated in 2004 from Gladstone High School. She was awarded an associate's degree in medical office specialist from Bay de Noc Community College in 2009, and is employed with OSF St. Francis Hospital.
John is the son of John and Brenda Wery of Perkins, and is a 2003 graduate of Mid-Peninsula High School. He is employed at Riverside Toyota and Genes Towing.
The couple are making their home in Gladstone.
