ST. JACQUES - Melvin and Delores Sanford celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an Alaskan cruise in May.

Melvin and the former Delores LaFave were married 50 years ago on Aug. 5, 1961, at St. Francis Xavier in Spalding. Bridesmaids were Lenore Klee, Joan Wilbee, Geraldine LaFave, Janet Lesnieski, Karen Bergstrom and Cindy (Klee) Bedard. Standing for the groom were Emil Klee, Emil LaFave, Gary Sanford, James Hardwick, Glenn LaFave and Jerry Klee.

Mel retired from Mead several years ago. The couple sold their home in Gladstone and moved to St. Jaques where they love to garden, fish, cut firewood and entertain their nine grandchildren. In their spare time they also enjoy golfing.
