Liukkonens married 50 years

ROCK - Wayne and Anita (Severinsen) Liukkonen were married 50 years ago on July 15, 1961, at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.

Bridesmaids were, Cheryl (Leisner) Severinsen, sister of the bride, and Sandy (Dion) Moreau and Phyllis (Lippens) Schermer, both friends of the bride. Standing for the groom were Paul Levesque Jr., John Dion and Adolph Lippens Jr., all friends of the groom.

The couple was treated to a surprise anniversary reception, hosted by the couple's children on Saturday, July 16, at the Terrace Bluff Golf Course.

Wayne retired from Halron Oil Company and enjoys working on small engines and being a grandpa.

Anita retired from Community Action. She enjoys being a grandma.

Both are members of St. Joseph Church in Perkins and enjoy going to the casino.

Wayne and Anita are the parents of three children, Lynn Summers of Escanaba, Randy (Teresa) Liukkonen of Glendale, Ariz., and Scott (Cindy) Liukkonen of Gladstone.

They also have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The couple resides in Rock.
