ESCANABA - David and Ruth Wilson of Escanaba recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
David and the former Ruth Ann Klotz were married April 30, 1966, at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba, followed by a reception at the Escanaba Eagles Club. Attending the bride was her sister, Lois (Klotz) Smith. Bridesmaid was Sue (Pilon) Pendergraft, a friend of the bride. Julie Bengstron Schroeder, a cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.
Lee Smith stood as best man for his brother-in-law. Groomsman was David's best friend, Bill McDonnald.
Ruth and David Wilson — 1966
David served as captain of Escanaba Public Safety for 28 1/2 years before retiring in 1996. He was fire chief at Mead Paper for five years, retiring in 2003.
Ruth was employed as a medical secretary at OSF St. Francis for 30 years. She retired in 2010.
David is a member of Elks 354, Eagles, VFW, Escanaba Lions, Escanaba Country Club, and is a volunteer at OSF St. Francis Hospital.
Ruth is a Lady Elk.
Both David and Ruth are members of St. Anne's Church in Escanaba. They enjoy traveling in the Upper Peninsula on their Harley Davidson motorcycle, camping together in their new motorhome, and spending time with their nine grandchildren.
The Wilsons are the parents of three children; David (Christine Bugay) Wilson of Escanaba, Rebecca (John) Sliva of Soo Hill, and Kristi (Jason) Braun of Escanaba. Their grandchildren are: Lucy and Laura Sliva; Katie, Angie and Maddie Wilson; McKenna, Deven and Sage Clark; and Keagan Braun.
