Holiday helpers spread cheer

December 11, 2010
Daily Press

This week's bouquets go to:

From Bishop Noa Home residents:

"We would like to send a bouquet of thanks to the Escanaba Walmart store for remembering us with the generous donation of a 12-foot, pre-lite christmas tree and ornaments. We, along with visitors and staff, will enjoy the beautiful tree through out the holiday season.

From Alice Majestic, Rapid River:

"Once again congratulations to my sister, Annabelle Holmgren, for her mitten project. This year she donated 150 pair of mittens to the Salvation Army. That is a lot of knitting and hopefully will keep many little and big hands warm. Way to go Annabelle."

From Barb Couillard, Ford River:

"A bouquet goes out to the Bay de Noc Choral Society which put on 'Magnificat' last Sunday at Bethany Lutheran Church. It was a wonderful performance."

From Public Health, Delta & Menominee Counties:

"Public Health, Delta & Menominee Counties would like to send a bouquet of thanks to Gladstone Super Valu, Elmer's County Market and Super One Foods for partnering with us to serve mocktails in their stores on Dec. 2, 3 and 4 to promote our message: Provide an alternative to alcohol at holiday celebrations. Thanks also to the Daily Press for their support in this annual effort. Our appreciation goes out to those who helped staff the booth."

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they've done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the Virtual Newsroom button. Once there, click on "Bouquets" and follow the simple instructions.
