ORLANDO, Fla. - Carla Jean Lewton, 51, of Orlando, Fla., passed away on Oct. 18, 2010, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born Carla Jean Mathias on Jan. 22, 1959, to Sandra Lee (Bandy) and Carl Allan Mathias in Chicago, Ill.
She lived in Chicago and the surrounding area until she was 4 years old at which time the family moved to Michigan. She attended Bark River-Harris Schools and then become an LPN. She lived for a while in Chicago, then moved to Florida where she remained until her death. She was a good nurse and even worked for a while as a prison nurse.

She loved to read books, go fishing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Rhonda) Shinnaberry of Minnesota, SSG. Adam (Anita) Shinnaberry stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., but now serving in Afghanistan, and Gary Shinnaberry at home, who is also battling cancer. She is also survived by her mother, Sandra Lee Mathias in Michigan; three sisters, Tracey (Mike) Williams of Illinois, Deanne Hughes of South Carolina, and Sarah (Mike) Thode of Illinois; three brothers, Ronald (Lisa) Mathias of Lower Michigan, James Mathias of Escanaba and CMSgt Andrew (Sandy) Mathias of Oklahoma, who is also serving in Afghanistan. She is also survived by five grandchildren; her partner, Ricky Robinson of Orlando; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Mathias; a sister-in-law, Donna (Arevalo) Mathias; and a brother-in-law, Jack Hughes.
Arrangements were made in Orlando for a private service.
