GULLIVER - Betty L. Bowman, 81, of 965W County Road 432, Gulliver, died Oct. 25, 2010, at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.
She was born March 25, 1929, in Manistique, the daughter of Frank and Lula (Clemet) Heinz and graduated from the Manistique High School in the Class of 1947.
On Jan. 3, 1953, she married William H. Bowman in Escanaba. They made their home and raised their family in Gulliver. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2007.

Betty and her husband, Bill, formerly owned and operated the Bowman Gas Company in Gulliver.
She was a member of the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She loved her dogs and horses and participated in many 4-H Horse Shows. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, boating, crossword puzzles, reading, going to camp and spending winters in Florida for the last 30 years.
She is survived by her sons, William F. (Lorrie) Bowman, Guy (Cheryl) Bowman and Jay "Bud" (Carol) Bowman, all of Gulliver; daughter, Kim "Sissy" (Terry) Demers of Gulliver; grandchildren, Brooke and Billy Bowman, Stephanie (Brad) Carlson, Kristopher (Mel) Bowman, Tera and Julie Demers and Jake Bowman; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kyra Carlson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Clement Bowman; infant grandson, Jeffrey Demers; sister, Doris Hentschell; and brothers, Lawrence and Gerard Heinz.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
