Nelson - Wickstrom

BARK RIVER - Robert G. Wickstrom married the former Patricia A. Nelson 50 years ago on Oct. 8, 1960, at First United Methodist Church, Escanaba. Original attendants included Jack Erickson, cousin of the groom, and the late Patricia Erickson, best man and matron of honor. Stig Bergh, friend of the groom was a groomsman, and Anna Schram, friend of the couple, served as a bridesmaid.

An anniversary reception, hosted by the couple's sons and their spouses, was held at the home of Bob's hide-a-way in Bark River.

Robert worked at Harnischfeger until 1985 when P&H closed. He then worked various jobs and retired from U.P. Concrete of Bark River in 1998.

He was involved in baseball for many years and bowled for Harnischfeger for several years. He also played the part of Santa Claus for neighborhood children.

Patricia was involved with the United Methodist women's group for several years in Bark River and was associated with the TOPS organization for 40 years.

Both enjoyed watching their grandsons play baseball and are avid Packer fans.

The couple has three sons, Robert (Dawn) Wickstrom and Kenneth Wickstrom, all of Escanaba, and Leonard (Sandy) Wickstrom of Menominee. They also have four grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Whitney and Allysa Wickstrom.

The couple is at home in Bark River.
