Anderson - Gartland

ESCANABA - Bob and Julie (Anderson) Gartland recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. The couple married Sept. 20, 1980, at St. Anthony's Church in Wells.

A 1977 graduate of Escanaba Area High School, in 1987 Bob founded Gartland Contracting, where he continues to work as a contractor.

A 1979 graduate Escanaba Area High School, Julie works for Engineered Machine Products in accounts receivable.

The couple has lived in the Soo Hill area for many years, but they enjoy spending most of their free time at their camp in Flat Rock, where they are active in deer and bear hunting, and taking walks in the woods.

Bob and Julie's favorite pastimes are camping and hiking around the Upper Peninsula and fishing in their kayaks. They also enjoy gardening, their three dogs, Kaytee, Bella and Zoey, and are active members of Holy Family Parish in Flat Rock.

The Gartlands are the parents of three children - Brooke (Joel) VandenBrink of Seattle, Wash., Greg (Michelle) Gartland of Detroit and Lisa Gartland of Michigan State University in East Lansing.
