HYDE - The former Edie Sheehan and Lew Vailliencourt were married 50 years ago on June 18, 1960, at Our Lady Gate of Heaven Church in Detroit. Original attendants were Bill and Ken Vailliencourt, brothers of the groom, Sue Sheehan, sister of the bride, and Jean Baker Morgan, cousin of the bride.

The couple was honored at a celebratory Mass at St. Anne's in Escanaba. An anniversary reception was held in a restaurant in Fenton, Mich., the same weekend (Aug. 13-14) the family gathered for the wedding of the couple's nephew, Tom Churchill.

Lew retired in 1996 from Bittner Engineering as an engineering technician. He serves as a deacon at St. Anne's Church in Escanaba and is a member of the Remnants Barbershop Chorus. He enjoys woodworking at home in his spare time.
