Tune in to Superior Radio Hour

ESCANABA - Superior Radio Hour, produced by Escanaba's William Bonifas Fine Arts Center, will be featured on WNMU radio, 90.1 FM, or the new translator station 96.5 FM, at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A spoof on old-time radio shows, the two-hour presentation was written by Kathryn Morski, directed by Bridgette Brady, emceed by Ed Dwyer, and featured a stellar cast of area performers.

"It's all U.P.," Morski said. "It features the 'News From Upper Inwood, a tradition started by Dave Rood of the Delta Reporter in Gladstone many years ago, 'Further Adventures of Ole and Lena,' and 'Highly Improbable Ads."

The centerpiece of the show is "The Mystery of Occasional Isle," about the resort the Makalainens created from their former swamp, and their very first convention - the Convention of Famous Fictional Detectives.

"It was a great deal of fun to put together," Morski said. "I got to invent parodies like Hercules Parrot, Jessica Fetcher, and Nancy Dew."

Morski said the cast was "wonderful," and noted that the musical talent was top-notch, too.

"We had Augie Peters and Almudena Aguirre, Mood Swing, my own group, 'SKI, Travis Dubord and Tom Knoll doing a number from Bay College's production of "Flight of the Lawnchair Man," and the Bonifas Belles..."

The show was presented live in October of 2009 as part of the Bonifas Fine Arts Center's continuing performing arts series.

Cast members include Almudena Aguirre, Katrina Albert, Mark Ammel, Sara Beck, Bridgette Brady, Mark Cowman, Beth Cox, Jillian Jamison, Katherine LeDuc, Beth Ann Mercier, Brian Morski, Caitlin Morski, Kathryn Morski, Terry Peerless, Alex Rhue, Joyce Schrock and Marc Tall.

The next Superior Radio Hour is currently scheduled for October 2010.
