GLADSTONE - Dennis and Cheryl (Cady) Stanek of Gladstone celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Dec. 27. A surprise party was planned and hosted by the couple's children Oct. 3 at Gladstone Ski Park.
Dennis and Cheryl were united in marriage in 1969, at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Trenary. Maid of honor was the late Stephanie Nordness, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids included: Shelly Fremont, cousin of the bride; Doris Cady, sister-in-law of the bride; Donna Pankratz, sister of the groom; and Joni Hendrickson, sister of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Kelly Heinonen, sister of the bride.
Standing as best man was William Mocock, friend of the groom. Groomsmen included: Ron Miller, cousin of the groom; Greg Cady, brother of the bride; Ty Cady, brother of the bride; and Allen Stanek, brother of the groom.

Flower girl was Roxanne Anderson, cousin of the bride. Ringbearer was Auvergne Richmond, friend of the bride.
Seating the wedding guests were Curt Cady, brother of the bride, and David Stanek, brother of the groom.
Dennis, retired superintendent of Delta Schoolcraft ISD, is presently teaching education courses at Northern Michigan University. In his spare time, Dennis enjoys golfing, traveling, riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his grandchildren.
Cheryl, a retired school teacher of 35 years, enjoys reading, gardening, golfing, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Both Cheryl and Dennis are active members in their community as well as their church, Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone.
Dennis and Cheryl raised three daughters - Leslie (Eric) Nault of Gladstone; Holly (Jim) Stammer of Gladstone; and Brooke (John) Buckley of Gladstone.
The couple also has eight grandchildren - Payton and Sylvia Nault, Landon, Carter and Paige Stammer, and Maggie, Camryn and Reese Buckley, all of Gladstone.
