HANNAHVILLE - Nah Tah Wahsh PSA students Betsy Trudeau and Elyse Teeple placed third in the high school poster project for the American Indian Science and Engineering Society national conference, held Oct. 31 in Portland, Ore.

Their poster presentation compared the affects of maple sugar and refined sugar on blood glucose levels.

This event is held annually to showcase the research projects of Native Americans in the fields of science, math and engineering at the high school, college and graduate levels.

Fellow students Alec Wandesega and Peter Elegeert joined Betsy and Elyse, along with chaperones Loretta Cox and Rich Sgarlotti, at the four-day conference to explore opportunities in the fields of math and science.

The event included educational sessions on topics relating to math, science, engineering and the environment along with recognition and awards for AISES chapters throughout the United States.

The conference, entitled "The Difference is You!" concluded with an awards banquet and Pow Wow.
