Roger Alan Shoemaker

THREE RIVERS, Mich. - Roger Alan Shoemaker, 82, of Three Rivers, Mich., formerly of Escanaba, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in Three Rivers, Mich.

He was the son of Wayne and Nellie (Sheridan) Shoemaker, born in Coopersville, Mich., on Aug. 25, 1927. On May 31, 1952, he married Dorothy Ann Smith, of Kalamazoo, Mich. Roger was chief of adult probation for Kalamazoo County and resided in Schoolcraft, Mich., until 1977 when he began his career as adult probation and parole officer for the state of Michigan, residing in Escanaba until his retirement.

Roger served with the Navy Air Corp and is a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years, Dorothy; and three daughters, LouAnne (Louis) Sanchez, Linda Benthin, and Holly (Doug) Norton; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at the Schoolcraft Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Friday Nov. 6, Rev. Paula Vander Hoven officiating. Family and friends can join together immediately following services at Westminster Hall, near the Presbyterian Church on Cedar Street in Schoolcraft, Mich.

Memorials in Rogers honor may be made to the charity of your choice.

Cremation has taken place through the Avink Funeral Home in Schoolcraft, Mich.
