Cougars win district debut
EBEN - The Superior Central Cougars advanced in the Class D district volleyball tournament, opening with a 25-18, 25-9, 25-12 victory over the North Central Jets Tuesday night.
"Our serving was awesome tonight and that made a world of difference," said Cougars' coach Chris Bray. "We hit 30 aces and had only seven service errors all night. Everyone got a chance to play, and they all contributed nicely. The girls were ready to go."
Katie Richmond hit 16 points and 11 aces in Game 2 as the Cougars built a 20-2 advantage.
She finished with 21 points and 12 aces, and Jordyn Barrows had 11 points and six aces to go with 16 assists.
"Katie was on fire," said Bray. "She just hit ace after ace after ace and Jordyn had a huge run in the third game."
The Cougars host Bark River-Harris Thursday at 7 p.m.
