GLADSTONE - Gladstone residents Daniel "Copper" and Irene Barron celebrated 60 years of marriage Oct. 1. It was on that date in 1949 that the former Irene Lippens became the bride of Daniel Barron during a ceremony at St. Joseph Church in Perkins.

Attending the bride were her sister, Alice (Lippens) Solis, who served as maid of honor, and her cousin, Margaret (Lippens) VanDamme, who served as bridesmaid.

Standing for the groom were his brother, the late Allan Barron, who was best man, and the bride's brother, Rene Lippens, who was groomsman.

In celebration of Daniel and Irene's 60 years together as husband and wife, they hosted a gathering of immediate family at their Gladstone home.

A retired farmer, Daniel is a member of Highland Golf Course and a former member of Gladstone Yacht Club.

Now a retired homemaker, Irene enjoys golfing and playing cards.

Both are members of Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. They enjoy spending time with their many grandchildren.

Together, Daniel and Irene raised six children - Bob (Barbara) Barron of Flat Rock; Clifford (Willie) Barron of Gladstone; Wally (Donna) Barron of Gladstone; Tom (Linda) Barron of Flat Rock; Janet Barron (Scott Zechel) of Escanaba, and Pat Barron, also of Escanaba.

The couple also has 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
