HARRIS - The Bark River-Harris Broncos made quick work of North Central here Monday, sweeping the Jets in a 3-0 volleyball decision (25-15, 25-15, 25-13).

The match wasn't exactly the way North Central coach Krystle St. John wanted to go into district play.

"Not the best way, but Bark River is tough and my girls played real hard, so we'll learn from it and move on," said St. John.

The Jets open district play tonight at Superior Central. St. John says her squad needs to communicate better against the Cougars than they did against the Broncos.

"We had some failures on the floor, not knowing who was going where, who should go after this, or who has the better angle," the coach said. "But we'll play our hearts out (against Superior Central) and see what happens."

Meanwhile, BR-H coach Jodi Smith was pleased with the victory, considering the Broncos could meet North Central again this week.

"It's nice to get a win against a team you could see so soon in districts," said Smith. "We finished the season strong, it was a total team effort and I'm proud of the way things went."

BR-H will play at the winner of tonight's match between North Central and Superior Central Thursday in its district opener.

The Broncos head into tournament play as the Central U.P. champions, with their only loss in conference play coming to the Cougars (the teams split a pair of matches this season).

BR-H finished third behind Crystal Falls Forest Park and North Dickinson in the Skyline Conference.

North Central - Maule (eight assists, one dig, one block); Gagne (nine assists, three blocks, two kills, two digs); Ray (60 assists, two kills); N. Betters (10 digs, five assists); LaBonte (three digs, three assists); Bilski (three kills), W. Betters (two kills, one assist).

Bark River-Harris - Briggs (29 assists, one kill); Robinson (eight kills); Rates (eight kills); Madalinski (six kills); Piche (four kills); McDermott (two digs); Mooers (two kills, two digs).
