Esky pride shines through

POSTED: October 23, 2009

It is good to see the generations come together as they did last week at Christian Park Health Center. Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) helped residents at the facility celebrate Escanaba's homecoming.

This type of an event is an excellent opportunity for the younger generation to give back to residents who at one time were in their same shoes. It allows for the older residents to share experiences with the younger crowd and vice versa.

This type of interaction allows for learning to take place in both directions. Not only can the students of today share how things have changed and to make a group feel good, but it also allows the former students to share their knowledge of how they used to celebrate homecoming.

It also allows the students of today to show they can make a difference in an older's person life and even though there may be an age difference, there is no reason why the two groups cannot come together to share in a moment.

It is good to see such enthusiasm from this young group of people and they made another group's day. We want to tip our hat to them and hope they walked away with not only a sense of helping others get through a day, but by sharing a common theme - Esky Pride!
