ESCANABA - Escanaba residents John and Charleen Cavadeas celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Aug. 15. The couple enjoyed a family dinner at the Terrace Bay Inn, Gladstone, hosted by their children. Afterward, John and Char joined family enjoyed cake a champagne at the home of their son, John.
The former Charleen Anderson became John's bride in 1959, during a ceremony held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba.
The bride's attendants were Laurel (Lewis) Jensen, the late Betty (Myrsten) McGovern, and Donna (Miller) Stapleton.

Standing for the groom during the nuptials were Ted, George and Tony Cavadeas, brothers of the groom.
John is employed as a custodian for Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. His hobbies include involvement in church activities, deer hunting and spending time at hunting camp.
Char was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Donald Nyquist, DDS, until her retirement in March 2002. Her hobbies include membership in Bethany Belles Circle, sewing quilts at the church, attending craft club, quilting and traveling.
John and Char have three children - Toni Lynn (Rick) West and Deanna Liberty, all of Gladstone, and Tim (Pam) Cavadeas of Escanaba.
The couple also has five grandchildren.
