During the week, we have seen a major construction project come to fruition in Escanaba as the multi-million dollar Upper Peninsula State Bank conducted grand opening events.

This event shows there still is plenty of hope and promise in the area for businesses to grow and prosper.

This new facility is one for the city and depositors of U.P. State Bank to be proud of because it is an elaborate building in a prime location. Some may say the building is too large, but there is some hope that the bank either will expand in the future, or the space may be available for other business ventures.

It is good to see such a structure go up in Escanaba and there were plenty of players who participated in making the event happen. Most importantly, it takes a field that once was abandoned and not very pleasant looking, and it now is turned into a site that can be marveled at by many.

There is plenty of land like this available and it would be nice if more of this type of construction could take place. Not only does it serve as a shot in the arm for those building, but to the community as well.

As the grand opening events at the bank wind down today, we wish success not only to U.P. State Bank, but to all out there who also may be thinking about such an undertaking. Remember, we must stand behind these businesses as they are a part of the community and we can only grow if we join together.
