BARK RIVER - Gregg and Joanne Johnson recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
The former Joanne Richer became the bride of Gregg Johnson during a June 13, 1959 wedding ceremony at St. George Catholic Church in Bark River.
Attendants were: Susan (St. John) Brierely, cousin of the bride; Elaine (Tousignant) Frost, friend of the couple; Marlene (Johnson) Everett, sister-in-law of the groom; Dale and Curtice Johnson, brothers of the groom; and Lawrence Richer, brother of the bride.

A reception for the couple was held June 13 at Terrace Bay Inn, hosted by the couple's children. A Mass of Celebration was conducted by Rev. Mark McQuesten June 14 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River. The couple then took a celebratory trip to Branson, Mo.
Gregg was employed at Harnischfeger Corporation for 26 years, and at Lake Shore in Iron Mountain for 17 years. He retired in 2000. Gregg is currently the Bark River Township supervisor. He is a member of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoys hunting, golfing, woodworking, watching all sports, working puzzles and doing outdoor gardening.
Joanne was employed for 31 years with the Bark River-Harris school system. She retired in 2003. Joanne is a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and enjoys reading, golfing, sewing, working with flowers, and her membership in the Red Hatters. She is also very involved with St. Vincent de Paul Society.
As a couple, Gregg and Joanne are both members of the Highland Golf Club. They enjoy their friends and family, and especially attending their grandchildren's activities.
The couple has three grown children - Sandy (Al) Bloniarz of Iron Mountain, Mark (Lori) Johnson of Wilson, and David Johnson of Schaffer.
They also have six grandchildren - Ariel Bloniarz, Nick, Emily, Mitchell and Owen Johnson, and Ryan Kurth.
