More Daily Press readers win cash in Bingo Mania

May 16, 2009
By Laura Mead

ESCANABA - Two lucky readers went home with money in their pockets after winning in the Daily Press' bingo games. There are new games each month. May's bingo game is currently underway. Bingo cards for June will be inserted in the newspaper during the last week of May.

In April's bingo game, the winners were Jodi Murray, Bark River, who won $50 in the single bingo game, and Shirley Fontaine, Escanaba, who won $100 in the two or more bingo game.

In addition to the single and two or more bingo games, there is also blackout bingo. Each month, the Daily Press picks two to three winners from the drawing, depending on whether there's a blackout winner. Since there was no blackout winner in May, the $200 worth of winnings rolls over to the next month. Those who play bingo this time will have the chance to win $400 - double the original value.

Jodi Murray, Bark River, accepts a $50 check from Daily Press Circulation Manager Dennis Bowen. Murray won the single bingo game drawing.

"People like it when the pot gets bigger," said Daily Press Circulation Manager Dennis Bowen.

Bingo cards are inserted in the Daily Press during the last week of each month and each paper includes four bingo cards. Two or three bingo numbers are published each day in the Daily Press during the following month. "People can get their bingo cards and they can play everyday, looking for the numbers in the paper," said Bowen.

If a player gets bingo, they have until the 10th of the following month to either bring in or mail in their winning card to be entered into the drawing.
