ESCANABA - Warren and Eleanor Christianson of Gladstone celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday, April 2. The couple married April 2, 1949, in Omaha, Neb. After living in Des Moines, Iowa, for several years, Warren and Eleanor moved to St. Ignace in 1956.

Warren was part of the crew that built the Mackinac Bridge and was an ironworker for 40 years, working on such projects as the International Bridge and the Soo Locks.

Eleanor opened Eleanor's Beauty Shop in 1958, which she continued to operate on Portage Road until 1992.

Warren and Eleanor, long-time members of Zion Lutheran Church, spent a portion of each winter in Apache Junction, Arizona. They now live near Gladstone, home of their son, David, and daughter-in-law, Kathy, who are hosted an open house for the couple April 5, Eleanor's 90th birthday.

Warren and Eleanor's daughters, Diane Christianson of Byron Center and Julie Christianson (John) Stivers of Grand Rapids, will celebrate with them later this spring.
