WELLS - Hugh and Rosemary Ray of Wells marked their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 14. A celebratory gathering began at the Gladstone Ski Park and was continued at the Terrace Bay Inn, where dinner was served to family and friends from as far away as California, Arizona and Connecticut. In 1958, Hugh and the former Rosemary LaFave became husband and wife during a ceremony at St. Joseph's Church in Escanaba. Both were originally residents of Escanaba. They now reside in Gladstone.
Maid of honor at the couple's wedding was Darlene (LaFave) Bellefeuille, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Sylvia Ray, sister-in-law of the bride.
Best man for the event was Don Ray, brother of the groom. Groomsman was Harry Ray, also the groom's brother.

Hugh retired in 2000 from Super One Foods, where he was a meat cutter. He is an assistant coach for girls' Little League softball.
Rosemary retired in 1999 from Super One Foods, where she was a demonstrator, and from K Dance Express. She continues to perform with Dancing Grannies and sings old country karaoke with the Grannies and wherever asked.
The couple's three children are Kevin (Connie) Ray of Milwaukee, Wis., Kenlyn (John) Streiber of Ellington, Conn., and Kalisa (Frank) LaVigne of Gladstone. They also have seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
