Coping skills are extremely important, and you do not develop coping skills by trying to instill false "self-esteem" by doing away with winners and losers in sports or any of the other "feel-good" ideas that are out there. Self-esteem is earned, not handed to you. And Tailgater is spot on about parents. Many of the bullies are continually enabled and defended by their parents, and some of the parents are bullies themselves.

Although I don't agree with mike about "throwing punches" the bullying campaign has gone to far and in my opinion is why you are seeing suicide on the rise. Kids need to learn how to handle these situations not run from them. Kid or adult it is part of life.

To some extent I agree with you. Unfortunately, much of the bullying which takes place these days takes place in cyberspace. This type of harassment is difficult to trace to its source, can be very damaging to the target, is nearly impossible to stop, and tends to lead to many additional people joining in the bullying.

Why not stop raising your kids to be p*ssies and teach them to fight back, if theres 1 thing a bully dont like its a kid throwing punches.
