How to sign up for our text / email alert notifications:

In order to receive the alerts, readers can send a text message or e-mail from the device they wish to receive the message. The text or e-mail can be directed to the specific types of alerts the reader wishes to sign up for.

To sign up for the alerts, readers should text or email the word "optin" (one word, no spaces, no quotation marks) to:

On some phones (blackberry curve for example) you will have to choose to send the message to an email address rather than a number.

After the message is received, the reader will get a short confirmation message reading, "We've received your message; please allow us time to add you to the list."

Once signed up for the email or text alerts, readers will receive updates on their phone or email pertaining to the appropriate category.

While there are no service fees from the Daily Press, standard phone rates may apply.

If you wish to stop receiving the alerts, simply send the word "optout" (one word, no spaces, no quotation marks) from the device / email you are currently receiving the message to the appropriate address above.
