Health care, cap and trade bills bad for U.S.
EDITOR: I was unable to attend the town hall meeting with U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak with a clever one day notice after he voted on the health care bill. I have read large portions of both the cap and trade bill and the health care bill, and believe both are devastating for our country and our children. The phony speeches that deny logic include the line, “no one will lose their own insurance, if they like it, they can keep it.” In the bill no one may be forced, but if an employer is paying 15 percent to 18 percent of wages in providing health care, and if they don’t provide it they must pay an 8 percent penalty. How long before the math says 8 percent is cheaper than 15 percent so we’ll cut out our healthcare and let our employees go with the public plan? What’s in the public plan? That is to be decided in the future as to what the minimum provisions are, what a crock.
