Health care bill does not seem to be constitutional to reader
EDITOR: I attended the pathetic display of statism recently with Congressman Stupak. I spoke and actually was engaged in debate with Mr. Stupak. Frankly I was not impressed. My major objection to the Health Care Takeover Bill is the Constitutionality of this legislation. Number one, all would concede that the Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the land. Number two, I carry with me a copy of the Constitution at all times and I cannot find any wording that either directly or indirectly gives congress or the white house the authority to force citizens to purchase anything. (the state mandated car insurance requirement is not a comparable argument). Number three, the constitution does not either directly nor indirectly state that health care is a right. Congressman Stupak made the statement that the supreme court would uphold this legislation based solely on the fact that the congress passed it. Hate to tell ya Bart, but that is not the way it works.
