Thomas earns Eagle Scout honors
Jack “TJ” Thomas IV stands in the library he recently renovated within Memorial United Methodist Church, Gladstone. Thomas is one of only three percent of Scouts who successfully attain the recognition and commendation that accompany the title “Eagle Scout.” Now 18, Thomas enjoys sharing his Boy Scout memories and knowledge with his Troop, 466 of Gladstone. He has laid the foundation to become an “Adult Scout“ so he may serve as Assistant Scoutmaster in Gladstone.

GLADSTONE — Boy Scout Jack “TJ” Thomas IV was presented with the Eagle Scout award by his Scoutmaster Anders Nyberg at the recent Gladstone Troop 466 Eagle Court of Honor. Jack is the 88th Scout from Troop 466 to earn Eagle honors since it began in Gladstone in 1937. The title of Eagle Scout is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase “Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.” Earlier this summer Jack demonstrated his learned leadership skills by completing his Eagle Project as he led members of Troop 466 along with his family and school friends. The Eagle project was completed at the Memorial United Methodist Church where Jack has worshiped since moving to Gladstone in 1993. The project involved renovation of the Church library and included all the planning, designing and building of eighteen-foot wood book cases. This room, along with another large youth room, was also repainted. The recognition of Eagle Scout has always carried with it a special significance.
